Shawn D. Stuckey

Shawn Stuckey is a retired NFL football player (New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings, Tampa Bay Bucs), an experienced complex litigation and worker’s compensation attorney, and a former NFL agent.  Shawn has been practicing for ten years with experience in worker’s compensation (as a lawyer and former applicant), complex insurance litigation defense, and sports litigation.  Shawn has worked on some of the most complex antitrust, sports law, and insurance coverage cases in the country including representing retired NFL players against the NFL in the 2011 NFL Lockout, representing current and former NCAA football and basketball players in O’Bannon v. NCAA, insurance litigation involving the 911 world trade center attacks, representing retired NHL players, etc.

Shawn, an award-winning author, published two law review articles while in law school attending the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis. Shawn’s experience as a retired NFL football player makes him uniquely situated to handle matters involving current and former professional and amateur athletes.

In the past, Shawn Stuckey represented both plaintiffs and defendants in complex litigation matters. Shawn’s area of practice included sports law litigation, antitrust, and complex insurance coverage disputes. Shawn worked on both coverage and subrogation claims arising from the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks.

In law school, Shawn held the positions of Associate Editor for the University of St. Thomas School of Law Law Review and Circulation Editor for the Midwest BLSA Law Journal. Shawn was selected as the 2008 winner of the University of St. Thomas (UST) Scholarly Engagement and Societal Reform Award, and was selected to represent the University of St. Thomas School of Law at the 2009 Legal Education Awareness Program.

Shawn has also given testimony at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland regarding the United States’ treaty compliance obligations, and was UST-Law Chapter of Amnesty International’s 2008 Human Rights Award recipient.
